In a secondary religious education classroom, the tension between the secular world and our Catholic faith can lead to difficult and sometimes controversial dialogue with our students. In order for students to better comprehend Catholic teaching about various concepts, the teacher needs to provide sufficient groundwork and help students to understand precise definitions in a manner which is engaging, informational, and student driven. To that end, this project is an adaptation of Peter Liljedahl’s The Thinking Classroom for Mathematics, in that the strategies, techniques, and practices derived from his book are modified so as to be utilized in the secondary religious education classroom. This includes the embedding of critical literacy skills, research skills, and numeracy skills. This Resource is available as a Google document and in D2L. |
