C16 – Toronto:  Conflict in the Classroom: a Faith Perspective

Presenter: Susan McElcheran

Audience: ALL
Description: How can we relate everyday experiences of conflict to our faith? Is there a connection between Scripture and the strategies we use to deal with conflict? This workshop presents a model of human violence and God’s call to peace, taking a perspective based in Scripture and the thoughts of Catholic writers Jean Vanier and René Girard. The presentation and activities are geared towards helping educators to see conflict in terms of God’s response to violence in Jesus and to find practical ways the Holy Spirit calls us and our students into a path of inner freedom, reconciliation, and peace.
