B17 – Connecting Student Voice & Faith to Create Awesome Disciples

Description: In this workshop, educators will have the opportunity to explore innovative and technological ways to achieve the Catholic Graduate Expectations. Using the School Library Learning Commons, the teacher librarian and classroom teacher team up to collaboratively teach lessons that engage youth with different learning styles. This interactive workshop will showcase different strategies used to inspire students to critically think and develop skills like creativity, discernment, communication, reflection and collaboration. By exploring a variety of online tools including Powtoons, Animoto, Glogster, Pixton, Google Sites, and LucidPress (to name a few) participants will browse a variety of student samples and experience hands on lessons. Participants will leave the workshop with an understanding of the importance Universal Design to engage our youth. Collaborative partnerships aimed at increasing our shared mission to live out Gospel values while bringing to life our Catholic teachings is at the heart of the session.
