B14 – From Library to Learning Commons: A Space to Witness the Ontario Catholic School Graduate Expectations

Description: With the emphasis on 21st Century learning competencies, schools have begun to transform their traditional library space into a collaborative learning space. A Learning Commons is a vibrant, whole-school approach, presenting exciting opportunities for collaboration, innovation and creativity. This workshop will take an in-depth look at how one school transformed their library into a dynamic space. This transformation brings forth an amazing connection for students to express the Ontario Catholic Graduate expectations. We will discuss how the Learning Commons creates Collaborative Contributors, Effective Communicators, Responsible Citizens and Responsible, Self-Directed and Lifelong Learners.
